BOURNEMOUTH IS RIDDEN WITH CUTE INDEPENDENT CAFE’S, BAKERIES AND BISTROS – YOU JUST NEED TO KNOW WHERE TO LOOK. CHECK OUT THE LITTLE PICKLE DELI CAFE FOR AN OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE YOU WON’T FORGET.
Nestled cosily on the busy Boscombe high street, it’s hard to miss the craftily decorated window display and the waft of gorgeous food that this little cafe expels. Recently expanded into a spacious diner that fits around 15 tables, the originality and authentic quirk of this place hasn’t been compromised. It’s little surprise that this little joint is always buzzing. Offering take away and eat in services, you are able to pick and chose from a perfectly sized menu. Take a seat either to wait for it to be prepared or snuggle in one of the comfy cushions that lines the benches by the window to anticipate the arrival of your chosen dish.
The menu has options ranging from full English breakfasts with organic and locally used ingredients (award winning I may add and when you have tried one, you will see why!) to colourful blue vinney salads, sandwiches and juicy burgers. Pies are also this cafe’s specialty with a fresh homemade selection from steak and cheese to vegetarian or chicken and smoked cheese. Prices range from £4.00 to £10 for light lunches and quick eats. A decadent array of homemade cakes is also available for around £2.50. Once I had made
the oh-so-difficult decision of ordering food
and also embracing the challenge of choosing a drink (flat white or chocolate brownie milkshake?) I was free to sit down and wait expectedly. The open plan arrangement of the cafe means that you are able to see the staff working away at preparing your order. Despite visiting during rush hour and being just behind a large group of take out sandwiches, it wasn’t long before my order of a chocolate milkshake arrived, swiftly followed by my chosen cheese toasty.
The salad was gorgeously presented in a bowl full of colour. At a price of £5.00 it was great value for money and every bite was delicious. The fresh bread was toasted to perfection and it was accompanied with a generous and colourful side salad. It was definitely enough to fill me up… However, the ever tempting counter of cakes and brownies called to me. I chose a slice of the classic carrot cake, while my partner chose a chocolate brownie. After sampling both, it is clear that this place is dangerous for anyone wanting to watch their waistlines. Both were perfectly moist and tasty, and came in generous proportions. Despite being among a range of other eateries in Bosombe, there is no question as to why the little pickle is always busy. Amazing food in an amazing place with lovely service. Definitely recommend to anyone not yet persuaded by the thought of a perfect Saturday brunch at the perfect pickle!
