SKATING POLLY ‘ODDIE MOORE’

February 13, 2016 — by Imogen Byers

Howling fuzz pop from Oklahoma.

Inspired by the feverish output of riot grrrl, Oklahoma female power duo Skating Polly have been honing their howling fuzz pop for around a decade and have toured with everyone from grunge iconsBabes in Toyland to psych gods The Flaming Lips.

Starting the band at just 9 and 14 years old respectively, Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse play with the same rage and aggression as 90s punk bands like Bikini Kill, but also with the sweet simplicity of Regina Spektor and Kimya Dawson during their softer moments.

‘Oddie Moore’ – taken from their forthcoming first UK release ‘The Big Fit’ – serves as the perfect introduction to both sides, with its controlled guitar intro and raw lyrics paving the way for a rip-roaring and frenetic conclusion.
